The Whistling Woods began as a dream shared by its owners,
Vikas Laad and Gunjan (Gina) Laad — a dream of creating a place where people could gather, celebrate, and create lasting memories together. After years of searching for the perfect piece of land, they discovered this beautiful woodland estate and brought their vision to life. Today, The Whistling Woods is more than a venue — it is a space where meaningful moments, joyful celebrations, and lifelong memories unfold.
Our Story
Some dreams take time.
Some dreams wait patiently until the moment is just right.
For us—Vikas and Gunjan (Gina) Laad—The Whistling Woods is one of those dreams. For as long as we can remember, we have loved bringing people together. Whether it was hosting friends, celebrating milestones, or meeting new people through our work and community, we always felt happiest when we were part of someone else’s joyful moment. Celebrations have a special energy—laughter, stories, families meeting, memories being made—and we always knew we wanted to create a place where those moments could live forever.
The idea of The Whistling Woods was born nearly five to six years ago. Back in 2018, we started searching for land with a vision in mind: a place that felt peaceful and natural, yet close enough for families to gather easily. We imagined woods whispering in the wind, a lake reflecting sunset skies, ponds that add serenity, and open farmland that feels like a retreat away from the city—while still being right near Cary, Apex, and Chapel Hill. But like many dreams, the journey was not perfectly straight.
Just as our search began gaining momentum, the world paused during COVID. Plans slowed, uncertainty grew, and like many others we had to put our dream on hold. Yet the vision never left us. We continued to believe that the right place was waiting for us somewhere.
And then, when the time was right, we found it. The moment we stepped onto this land, something felt special. The woods, the water, the open sky, the peacefulness of the farm—everything felt exactly like what we had imagined years before. It felt like home for our dream. Today, as we bring The Whistling Woods to life, it represents more than just a venue.
It represents years of patience, belief, and a shared vision between the two of us. But most importantly, it represents people. We are incredibly excited to welcome couples, families, and communities to celebrate their most meaningful moments here—weddings, anniversaries, milestones, laughter-filled gatherings, and memories that will last a lifetime. Our hope is simple:
